Words used for describing a noun (person, place, animal or thing) are called adjective. They tell us more about a noun.
e.g. a beautiful woman
a big city
a faithful dog
a black gown
Types of Adjectives
(a) Quality of noun – Describe quality of a person, place, animal or thing. E.g. a beautiful city, a difficult question, a rich man
(b) Adjectives of origin – Words that tell you the place to which the noun belongs to are called adjectives of origin.
e.g. a Chinese woman
an Indian hat
Mexican food
(c) Colour of nouns – a black cat, a brown coat, a green bottle
(d) Size of nouns – a big house, a short man, a long bridge
(e) Adjectives of quantity – three cows, sixteen girls, four boxes
